Q. What is Give-N-Day?
Nicholls Give-N-Day is the university’s 24-hour giving campaign that inspires all supporters of Nicholls from current students, to alums, to the local community and region to come together, show their Colonel Pride, and provide essential funding to all areas across the university. This annual event provides an opportunity for giving at Nicholls unlike any other in an effort to create a sensation of energy around philanthropy.
For this year, the goal is over 130 campus organizations receiving funds, over $300,000 raised from at least 1,500 donors in 24 hours.
Q. Is there a minimum or maximum donation I can make on Give-N-Day?
Yes and no - while gifts of all sizes are encouraged, there is a minimum gift of $10. With the minimum gift being relatively low, it helps to encourage a greater goal of participation.
Q. Why does Nicholls care about my participation?
As the saying goes, “the more the merrier” would be the simple answer but there is a greater reason why participation in the Nicholls Give-N-Day is important. The combined generosity of many will only strengthen the support for all areas, including colleges, departments, student organizations and programs across the entire university to better reinforce the university’s educational mission. What might be the most important reason is that all gifts to Nicholls, no matter the size, are extremely important and all associated with Nicholls are very grateful for all supporters. Finally, the more supporters there are of Nicholls, the meaning of Strength in Numbers becomes a calling card for the university on a state and regional level.
Q. Can I participate in Nicholls Give-N-Day if I did not graduate from Nicholls?
Yes! Students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends are encouraged to support the university on Give-N-Day. When prompted in the giving form, you select the role you most closely affiliate. All gifts help to reach the goal of 1,500 donors.
Q. Where does my Give-N-Day gift go?
Supporters are encouraged to designate their gifts to any area on campus they feel most passionate about. If you do not wish to prioritize any specific designation, then you are encouraged to give to the Nicholls Foundation, where gifts will be used across the campus as needs arise. One of the greatest aspects of the Nicholls Give-N-Day is that your gift goes to your designated area.
Q. Can I give to multiple areas of the university?
Yes! To give to multiple areas of your choosing, simply open up the Gift Basket in the top right corner of GiveNDay.org and add as many gifts as you'd like and check out all at once. You can also search around the Give-N-Day site and add gifts to your basket as you view the various profiles - click the basket button with the 'plus' sign next to the Donate button, and your gifts will accumulate in the basket.
Q. How will donations be distributed?
All donations made to Give-N-Day sent directly from GiveGab to the Nicholls Foundation via direct deposit within 5 business days. From there, the Nicholls Foundation will disperse funds to all participating organizations to their foundation account or will create a check in 2-4 weeks.
Q. Will my Give-N-Day gift - if made in advance of March 5th - help populate the leaderboards?
Yes! Gifts made in advance of Give-N-Day through https://www.givenday.org (and in response to Give-N-Day mailings) will be displayed on the leaderboard when it goes live at 12:00 a.m. on March 5th, 2024.
Q. Is my payment secure?
Completely – Nicholls Give-N-Day is facilitated by GiveGab, a company who has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through givenday.org. Read through Stripe's security documentation online.
Q. Can I send a gift by mail or phone?
Yes. However, due to the tight period of Give-N-Day, only gifts made online, by phone or in response to Give-N-Day mailings count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone on March 5th, please call (985) 448-4657.
Q. Is my Nicholls Give-N-Day contribution tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible as to the extent allowed by law. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.
Q. Does it cost anything to give through Give-N-Day? How much of my donation will Nicholls receive?
There is a 3% processing fee and a 2.5% (+ $.30) bank fee for donations. You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift.
Q. What if I already made a gift to Nicholls this year?
Thank you for being a donor to Nicholls! Your devotion to Nicholls is applauded and you are encourages to consider an additional gift of any size on March 5th. Your assistance in promoting Give-N-Day to others would also be greatly appreciated. You my use the created sample email and social media posts to help you as these are located in the Ambassador Toolkit on the site.
Q. Can I help promote Give-N-Day?
Yes! Please do! You are encouraged to share the images and messages that are located in the Ambassador Toolkit. Send an email to classmates, post on your Facebook page, tweet, blog, yell, put signs on your lawn. It's all encouraged!
Q. Can I use my employer's matching gifts funds?
Yes! You are strongly urged to take advantage of your employer's generosity to enhance the impact of your support at Nicholls. To see if your company offers this benefit or to learn more about your company's guidelines, visit the matching gift portal.
Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card?
Gifts made on to the Nicholls Give-N-Day will appear on donors' credit cards as GIVEGAB Nicholls Foundation.
